PUMGO Is the Best New Sporting Toy for Kids   no comments

Posted at 11:10 pm in Flat Ab

New York, NY (PRWEB) November 14, 2005

How does PUMGO work? Its unique 4-Wheel-Drive and all-wheel steering system allow the rider to cruise along with a simple pumping motion, similar to a see-saw. PUMGO is great for hard, flat surfaces and can reach speeds of up to 10 mph. Adjustable steering and a detachable brake give riders the freedom to customize PUMGO to make a perfect fit. Kids 7 up and parents can enjoy PUMGO.

Is it hard to learn how to ride PUMGO? Not at all. Most kids learn how to ride in about 5 minutes and no skateboard experience is necessary. In fact the similarities between skateboards and PUMGO are quite limited. Both use the same style of deck (the board itself) and both ride along hard surfaces on four wheels. Beyond that, PUMGO is an entirely new experience.

According to the fitness specialists, the PUMGO is all about the core. Just balancing alone on the PUMGO works your core strength, in addition to the pumping back and forth, because you have to distribute weight from one foot to the other while staying centered with your upper body which means your abs have to fire every time to stabilize your torso.

Not surprisingly, the legs benefit the most from the PUMGO workout. It will work your gluts because your knees have to bend to balance yourself, the 4 quadriceps muscles, your hamstrings because you have to lean forward, and even a little bit of calf work as you shift your body weight between your heels and toes in order turn.

The fun factor makes another appearance when it comes to calorie burning. While the PUMGO won?t fire the heart up like running it will keep it beating in the aerobic, or prime fat burning, zone. To reap the benefits of that zone, however, you need to stay on the board for about 30 minutes.

The most positive thing about the PUMGO is that it is interesting and fun so it keeps people on it for a longer amount of time because it is something they enjoy. Wherever you can find a flat and safe place, you can enjoy the feeling of surfing on land.

PUMGO has caught the eye of many media sources including CBS News, Atlanta Journal Constitution, Time Magazine for Kids, Washington Post and Washington Times. Most recently, PUMGO has been featured in the November edition of Boy?s Life magazine, the official youth magazine of the Boy Scouts of America and will also be featured in the December edition of Sports Illustrated for Kids at holiday gift guide.

Leade Health Announces Development of Health Coaching Best Practices   no comments

Posted at 1:10 pm in Health

Ann Arbor, MI (PRWEB) June 1, 2006

Leade Health, a pioneer in the field of health coaching , announced today that it will establish best practices outcomes for its key behavioral change programs of weight management , stress reduction , tobacco cessation, and cardiovascular health.

Drawing upon years of client data from Leade?s dedicated coaching programs and research from various fields, Leade Health is now taking a leadership role to develop best-in-class health coaching practices. In November 2005 the coaching firm established a scientific advisory board led by Michael D. Mulvihill, President & CEO. Michael noted, ?We are currently working to announce the best practices by year-end.?

?With 30,000 individual coaching interventions to draw from, Leade Health is on par with any legitimate research organization in assessing behavioral change,? explains Steven Bolling, MD, Professor of Surgery, Gayle Halperin Kahn Professor of Integrative Medicine, and Medical Director of the Board. ?With our advisory board?s guidance, Leade Health is conducting research in three phases — defining attributes, identifying the metrics and tools for measuring, and validating coaches? attributes as a predictor of outcomes.?

Defining the attributes that characterize a good health coach is critical, since Leade employs a unique approach where dedicated coaches work with individuals for 12 months at a time.

?Leade Health is trying to discover what qualities of health coaches help them be effective in eliciting behavior change, and what elements of the health coaching practice are most effective,? Dr. Bolling notes. ?For instance, empathy is one of the attributes that characterize a good health coach. But there should also be a strong sense of emotional self-awareness, so a coach knows when he or she is being empathic or not.?

As the company that was ?first to market? in 1997 with its unique brand of health coaching, Leade Health has been a leader and innovator in its development and delivery. For instance, nearly 10,000 people have participated in Leade Health?s iCanChange? Weight Management program. Of those, 89 percent have achieved weight loss or weight stabilization after one year of dedicated coaching. Other key Leade Coaching programs include iCanQuit? Tobacco Cessation and iCanRelax? Stress Reduction.

Leade has also conducted extensive research in fields that affect health coaching, including behavior change, psychology, call centers, and best practices. The move responds to the rapid rise of health coaching thanks to increased medical costs, rising obesity rates, aging of the population, and a growing interest in disease prevention.

?Leade Health is committed to not only the identification of health coaching best practices, but to also becoming a best practices organization at all levels under the leadership of the Scientific Advisory Board,? said Michael D. Mulvihill, Board Chairman.

Best Way To Get Fit   no comments

Posted at 8:10 am in Fitness

Best Way To Get Fit

Whatever your reasons you are to be commended, but how exactly does one go about getting into shape. Well here are a few suggestions to improve your fitness health and lifestyle. With each suggestion there are pros and cons, some will work for some people and some will not, try and decide what fits you and your circumstances best.

Join A Gym – This is a pretty obvious place to start. At a gym you have a variety of methods of getting fit, whether it’s aerobically or based on toning muscle you will find this a great place to start. At a gym you can get the help of a professional who will guide your fitness while keeping their well trained eyes on your progress. However, while a gym is a great way to get fit, it’s also very expensive and can be time consuming!

Running – A great way to get fit and virtually free! If you want to take up running a word of caution, running can cause injury. You must follow routines and have good quality foot wear. Running on tarmac is usually more convenient but it can damage your knees, so where possible try to run on grass or even better on a beach if this is an option. When you start off running, start slowly and build up the distances over the weeks. Start by slowly jogging for 5 minutes, as your fitness increases you can run further and at a faster pace. Do not push yourself to hard as this will lead to injury. Experts recommend doing a full run on day one, day two run half the distance at a slower pace, this relaxes the muscles and lessens the chances on injury. Then on day three rest. You can then start the cycle over. This is a great way to improve fitness and it will really enhance your endurance.

Swimming – Possibly the best way to get fit! Swimming tones all of your body and gives all your muscles an excellent work out. The great advantage of swimming is that it’s almost impossible to injure yourself. Many people swim to recover from injury and this can be a great way to build up worn down muscles. Similar to running, don’t over do it and take a day to rest up on a regular basis so not to exhaust your muscles. Again start slow and build up distances as you increase your level of fitness. The only real disadvantage of swimming is that you need somewhere to do it, some people may not have a nearby pool so this could be an issue. Otherwise swimming is a great fitness booster.

Aerobics – Something that is not as popular as it once was, but is still a really good way to get fit. Whether you join a class or do it in the privacy of your own home, this is a great way to get fit. It’s a low impact activity so again the danger of injury is minimal. Buying DVD’s to watch and follow fitness programmes is very helpful and can really improve muscle tone and general fitness. The only possible downside to aerobics is that if you want to be super fit it tends to be limited. You will probably have to do something else as well to take your fitness to a higher level.

Cycling – Another great low impact activity that really can get you super fit. After purchasing a bike it’s pretty much free and as you increase the distances you cycle you can travel round some interesting places which makes it an enjoyable activity. The risk of injury is low, unless you fall off, then this can be a real danger. But if you ride sensibly and safely you should not have any problems and you will find cycling a wonderful way to boost fitness levels.

Sports – This is one that many people take up. Some people find running or swimming boring as it can just be you on your own. They need the thrill of competitive games to excite them. Playing sport on a regular basis is a great way to get fit. Depending on the sport though there is usually a higher risk of injury. Some sports are obviously better than others for building fitness, but if you enjoy your sport you are more likely to keep it up and enhance you condition.

Changing Life Styles – Sometimes it can simply be walking places you might usually drive. Cycle to work instead of taking the bus. Just making more effort to get out and walk is something that is very simple but can really help you boost your fitness. Obviously walking a mile a day is not going to get you super fit but it’s a great place to start.

The Little Things – Most of the ways I have mention represent changes in your life and putting forward lots of effort. But there are simple things you can do that will improve your fitness. Don’t walk up the stairs, run! Dance while your making your morning coffee. Do a few star jumps while your cooking your dinner. Just be more active in everything you do. If you work at a desk, tap your feet for a while, any kind of movement will increase your level of fitness, even if it’s only a small amount it all helps.

So there is a list of a few ideas. There are plenty of other things you can try but these tend to be the best and most accessible options for most people. You may find that some of the suggestions are not for you but somewhere in there most people will find something that suits them. Another excellent suggestions is mix and match. Run one day, swim another, walk to work another, a combination of activities is excellent as it will get more of your muscles working and be more interesting. Whatever you decide I wish you well in your pursuit of fitness. Building your fitness even if only slightly will lead to you feeling more confident in yourself, better health and a feeling of achievement! So it’s well worth making that decision and getting yourself fit.

For Best Sewage System in Your Home, Get Good Barb Fittings Done   no comments

For Best Sewage System in Your Home, Get Good Barb Fittings Done

Whenever it comes to the word ‘barb’, what comes in my mind with first impression is the line that defines border of two nations. Normally barb is referred for the ‘spikes’ but when it comes to household uses, ‘barb’ becomes an important word, as barb fitting is considered very important in fittings of sewage system.

Also known as Barbed fitting, this is done  to connect two pipes together. Normally, two types of barbed fitting is done, which are respectively,  Dubl fitting and Hose fitting. Both these fitting are diffrent from each other in nature. In this article, we have tried to figure the technical differences between the two. Read on to know, which fitting is going to suit your requirement the best.

What is Dubl Barb Fitting?
Dubl fitting is considered compact than other type of fitting. It is also taken as a reusable fitting method which makes it economical to use.  You can use it with polythene tubing as well.  The major advantage of going for dubl fitting. It is also considered an smoother fitting version.

– Dubl fitting is a straight fitting that allows the hose to relax behind the barb using the clamp, which works like a drawstring. It helps the hose diameter in becoming smaller than the flare of barb.

How to assemble Dubl Fitting?
To assemble a dubl Barb Fittings, you simply need to push the tube over two barbs. But before you do it, make sure tube is squarely cut.

What is Hose fitting?
A. Hose barb fitting is also known as brass fitting, as all the materials  used in this fitting are made of brass. It is attached using straight and metric threads. Normally, beaded and standard barbs are used. Hose clamps keep brass barbs connected. However, hose fitting is bit costlier than normal dubl fitting but its re-usability makes it a good as well as economical choice.

– Hose fitting are considered of great choice if you require extended elbows and tees to attached with the tube.

– It is normally assembled using clamps. Hose needs to be cut neatly and then lubricated. Now slide the clamp on the hose. Push the hose to the fitting until it stops hexing.

For a long lasting and successful sewage system, it becomes very important to pay attention on sewage system fitting. Sewage system with good barb fitting would not require a second look for years.

Emily Ralph is a writer who writes on several topics. Mostly she writes on SME, Business, products and manufacturing units. To provide useful insights, she prefers to study comprehensively. What is the best way to learn alternative health techniques and practices?   2 comments

Posted at 3:10 am in Health

Question by Jeremy-Full Harvest Fundraising: What is the best way to learn alternative health techniques and practices?
I have always been extremely interested in alternative health techniques and treatments. I am currently in a very good job that I am not really crazy about. I would like to move into the alternative health field and would like to eventually open a health food store and small health spa. I know it is a process but I want to know where I can start. As far as I know (and I could be wrong) there is no school to go to learn alternative health. I don’t know where to start learning and how. Also for the learning process I need to work around my full time job as I don’t have the option to not work as I need the income. I really want to start learning about this field and just need some suggestions on where and how to start. Is there perhaps a way to be like an apprentice to an alternative practitioner?

I am a PA-C and I practice medicine…… and I am open to adding alternative medicine…..as are the physicians I work with. The problem with education in alternative medicine is it is not regulated in ways as the study of medicine is. Therefore……you can get quackery. In some states naturopathic physicians are legal, and they attend medical school in this particular way….for as long as other physicians do. The learn-by-mail-at-home schools (like Clayton’s) is expensive and not accredited by any governing body of worth and I am suspect of the curriculum. The better schools have to be attended in person. Andrew Weil (a great doctor in alternative medicine) has a school and program….expensive….the classes need to be in person….but authentic in content. (His books are a good start)Take a college level class in biology, or nutrition, or anatomy and physiology for a good basis of knowledge. Some community colleges actually have classes in herbs (our local college does). Massage Therapy is legit. and gives a good basis of knowledge. Medicine….alternative or otherwise….is never taught these days legitimately in apprentice fashion. There are some pretty good alternative health magazines…..just do a search. But I recommend a good basis of knowledge of the sciences that are taught on a college level….it gives you more of a knowledge to sort through what is real and what is quackery.

What is the best exercise/ fitness gym routine for a nocturnal person like me without developing muscles?   5 comments

Question by Alexis: What is the best exercise/ fitness gym routine for a nocturnal person like me without developing muscles?
I am working in a call center. I am in a night shift. I also drink slimming coffee and diet pills but none seems to be working. :) . I am planning to enroll in a fitness gym but I think I can only have sessions during my day-offs usually Saturday and Sunday. I also just would like to lose weight and not develop hard muscles. Thanks.

I’ve checked out every diet in the book but nothing worked as effectively as colon cleanse. I realize they say that pills will not work, however they certainly worked for me, and they’ve been showcased on CNN too. There’s a free trial happening currently at http://wisads.healthybusiness.info , why not try it, what’s the worst that could happen?
